I woke this morning from a beautiful part of a dream that I almost easily and unconsciously dismissed. I got on one of those single swings that they have at California Adventure and other amusement parks and fairs where is a big pole in the middle with many single swings all around it and then it lifts up high in the air and swings you around in a circle. As it started to lift and swing me around, I looked at each person standing in the line around it waiting for their turn and I heard “Everyone has a dream…a dream for their life. Everyone has a dream. Everyone has a dream.” And I could feel their dreams and this beautiful weightlessness, lightness, love, and energy surrounding me and everyone, connecting all of us.
I have not been checking my spam folder. You know where they say we’ve protected you from hundreds and hundreds of spam, which I do appreciate, but I just looked in it the last few days and have found both spam and not spam. So, if anyone had previously written a comment, I’m sorry I might not have gotten it (or if you’ve commented on someone else’s blog or maybe someone has commented on your blog-maybe it’s in the spam folder). You all probably know this and check out your spam folder but it just doesn’t cross my mind.
I just made “Chicken in Romanesco Sauce” along with “Saffron Rice Pilaf” for my family and everyone loved it! I split the sauce between tofu and chicken. It was very good and easy and quick enough, but a little dish intensive. The recipes are both by Rachael Ray and can be found on www.foodnetwork.com.
Note: Let me state I am not a doctor or naturopath, so talk to yours before trying anything new and trying anything that may interact with medicines or herbs you are currently taking or other health conditions you may have.
For me I have found lately that when I feel the beginnings of an itchy throat or sinus gunk, what helps me is not eating very much during the day and when I do eat, I eat something simple like organic chicken, soup, green drink, etc. I take candida clearing capsules 1 or 2 about 3 or 4 times a day, whatever intuitively feels right for me. I take B vitamins, airborne, vitamin C. I drink echinancea and pau d’arco tea (1-3 times depending on how I feel). I do Bikram (hot) yoga or a hot bath or shower (there is something about heating up the body that is healing). Sometimes I rest. In that stillness, whether 5 minutes or 30, I consciously remember and FEEL for a second what it feels like to be healthy (for example, if I felt fine the night before, I remember that feeling and run a scene in my head from the night before of me feeling fine and I feel a brief shift or movement in my stillness. I try to take in the messages that my body is speaking loudly to me (because I already missed the whispers) and listen before it starts screaming at me. It may feel indulgent to take care of myself now and be mindful, but the other choice is to keep going the way I’m going, not paying any attention, and wind up sick, feeling miserable, and not getting anything done. Been there,, done, that, don’t like it.
What’s the first thing to go when I get busy– exercise. Next thing to go is meditation followed by healthy eating and then sleep. So, now I try to be mindful about that–especially with the holidays or travel. I try to exercise a little shorter but do it (but of course that doesn’t always work out, like this morning for instance!) It’s already started for this holiday season; yes I may be doomed! There is a quote that says meditate for 20 minutes and if you are too busy then meditate for an hour. So, if my priorities are out of line and my energy is spinning out of control, I’m sitting for an hour. Hmm…sitting and fidgeting for 20 minutes or an hour, I choose 20 minutes. Meditation often makes me fell reconnected with spirit and reminds me that everything is just as it should be and that I’m in exactly the right place at all times. It helps everything feel smoother and that I am walking in grace. And sometimes it just doesn’t. Those days I just put in my time and show up. And hopefully by paying attention and listening to may body, I can avoid a cold (and keep a (mostly) positive attitude).
I am going to be sending free energy prayers. If you would like to be included or would like someone to be included maybe try to put their first name and last initial and city/state or just state if it’s a small city. Whatever you feel comfortable with. You don’t even have to write that down and just intend to connect with the energy prayers and we’ll see what happens. I’ve never done this before.
Energy prayers for me feel very supportive, not necessary life-changing but they can be. Everyone has their own chart, their own life to live, their own life lessons to learn, so I see energy prayers as just giving a little extra support and sanding off the rough edges to make things flow more smoothly and hopefully a little more gracefully. But of course there are many factors involved–your free will (to change your diet, to go to a doctor’s appointment or not, etc.), other people’s free will, other external circumstances, the greatest good of all involved, etc.
***Update: Energy prayers ended 01/11/2012. I wish the best for you all!***
I just watched “Visionaries” on Oprah’s network OWN. I didn’t write down any quotes or anything, but I do want to remember a few ideas now. James Cameron (the director of Avatar and Titanic) said that many years ago he had a dream that had this forest with fiber optic trees and he ended up putting that in his movie “Avatar.” Cameron also woke up from another dream in which he was looking through all these paintings and thought “I wish I could paint like that” and then he thought I just did paint that in my dreams and he got busy trying to recreate as many of the paintings as possible. (The book “Twilight” also came from a dream. The chapter with the meadow scene was the dream author Stephenie Meyer wrote down and couldn’t stop thinking about. She wondered about these characters in her dream and wanted to know more about them and started writing to find out.)
Tyler Perry, creator of many movies including the Madea movies, just started writing things down about his life when he heard Oprah say that writing things down was cathartic but changed the names of everyone in case they found his papers. Now Perry sits down and can just write and write and he knows when he’s connected and it will be good. (Julia Cameron has a fantastic and inspiring book called “The Artist’s Way” in which she talks about morning pages. Morning pages are where you write three pages every morning and that gets the creative flow going–you don’t edit. It’s messy and you just do it every morning whether you are inspired or not. You don’t wait for inspiration; you get into the habit, the ritual of it and just do it.)
Will.I.Am musician and in the band The Black Eyed Peas writes music he loves and knows when other people will love it. Will.I.Am made a comment that he writes music to keep his very active and distracted brain focused on something positive otherwise he would be in trouble or something to that effect.
Just think if we all were using our creative gifts and positively expressing them–we would all be happier and could create a happier, more magical world!
